Good idea! I'd like to introduce myself also. I am Alison Wiediger.
My husband, Paul, and I helped start a producer-only market (a novel
idea at that time in this area and still a rarity) in Bowling Green, KY
in 2004. So, we are in our 5th season! We also do year-round market
farming utilizing high tunnels as well as outside production, focusing
on using organic growing methods (although no longer certified) for
vegetables and cut flowers. We also do pastured broilers and layers.
Nothing like diversity. Since the directors trade off being market
manager, I'm hoping for lots of good ideas we can use to grow our market
(currently 32 members representing 10 counties)

Gus Schumacher told me about the list and it sounds very interesting.
I'm looking forward to participating. I just wanted to introduce myself
briefly. I work for the Los Angeles Times, where I've been covering the
intersection of food and agriculture (and, of course, farmers markets)
since 1989. I've also written a book called "How to Pick a Peach" which
is a combination of produce manual and essays about how farmers markets
have changed agriculture. Thanks for having me!
