I was recently contacted by a representative from a farmers market in Rhode
Island whose application to the IRS for 501c6 status was rejected. This may
be fortuitous, as they would probably prefer to be a 501c3 and accept tax
deductible donations. Is there anyone out there with a market who has had
experience filling out an IRS 1024 application (for 501c6) or 1023 (for
501c3 or 501c5) and would be willing to share? Perhaps some of you have
thoughts to share about the relative merits of 501c3 versus 501c5 versus
501c6 status as it relates to an individual farmers market.

You can reply directly to Erik at ledgeends at cox.net in order to respond, but
please be sure to copy his address if you decide to reply to the list as a
whole.

Thank you!
