Subject: Great new resources for farmers' markets on Culinate
To: high_springs_farmers_market <sharon at yeago.net>
*Dear Farmers' Market Manager,*
I'm writing today to tell you about the new farmers' market community pages
on Culinate.com [http://www.culinate.com/mix]. We at Culinate are excited
about these pages because *they enable market managers like you to provide —
at no cost — farm-fresh, seasonal recipes for your shoppers, and at the same
time allow shoppers to easily find their nearest markets.*
To provide your shoppers with recipes and more information about your
market, simply register on Culinate; you can then easily post and share
recipes featuring local, in-season ingredients. In fact, there's a spot for
every market manager in the country to upload a market logo and photos, list
opening days and hours, and even maintain a blog.
To see an example, check out a page maintained by the Hillsdale Farmers
Market [http://www.culinate.com/market/hfm].
If you are a market manager, claiming your market page is easy, and the
service is completely free. Just go to the community page [
http://www.culinate.com/mix], locate your market using your zip code or
city/state, and click on the "Claim It" link at the bottom of the right
column (under the map and blog). Follow the instructions to take control of
that market page. If you are not the current market manager, please
consider forwarding this note to the new manager and feel free to send a
note back to us with any additional information you might have about the
market's status
If you can't find your market already in our database, please send an email
to marketmaster at culinate.com, and we'll set one up for you. Please include
the market's name, its location, a primary contact's name, and any
additional information to help us set it up correctly.
Our new farmers' market community pages are great for market managers, but
we think shoppers are going to love them also — for the recipes, but also
because they will be able to locate their nearest markets easily, simply
using their zip codes.
Other content on Culinate related to farmers' markets includes:
- A monthly column by Deborah Madison, the award-winning chef and author
of Local Flavors: Cooking and Eating from America's Farmers' Markets [
http://www.culinate.com/columns/deborah]
- Recipes — from our kitchens, our contributors, and featured cookbooks —
using ingredients readily available at most farmers' markets [
http://www.culinate.com/recipes/collections/farmers_markets]
- Articles on shopping at farmers' markets on a budget, by Matthew Card;
what questions to ask farmers at the market, by Culinate Managing Editor
Caroline Cummins; and an interview with CSA (community-supported
agriculture) pioneer Elizabeth Henderson
We look forward to hearing your feedback about the farmers' market pages on
Culinate. Please contact me if we can answer your questions about the pages.
Sincerely,
Mark Douglas, Marketing & Development
Culinate, Inc.
