[FMC] FM on campus?

Liability seems to be the issue of the day, eh?
Every market needs to have general liability insurance to cover
market operations, regardless of whether or not the farmers carry
their own insurance. What the farmers insurance covers is most
likely product liability. The market needs to have general liability
coverage to cover things like people tripping over canopy weights and
charming acts of buffoonery like that. Most property owners require
at least $1 million coverage per occurrence. Some $2 million, with
an annual cap of $5 million. It should also include something like
$10,000 per occurrence to cover immediate medical attention. Each
state has different insurance rules, so check with your local
insurance broker. Also, many states farmers market organizations
have group policies you can buy into at a lower rate than going it
alone. But don't think the school unreasonable to ask you to get
insurance. They, like everyone else in our litigious society, are
just covering their assets.
